Commodore Business Machines Released the A4000/030 in April 1993 with a Motorola 68EC030. The Commodore Amiga 4000 system design was generally similar to the Commodore A3000, but introduced the AGA chipset with enhanced graphics. The Commodore A4000 shipped with AmigaOS 3.0 and could support new AmigaOS releases such as AmigaOS 3.1, AmigaOS 3.5 and AmigaOS 3.9. Third-party hardware developers released PowerPC accelerators based on PowerPC 604e with clockspeeds of 150, 180, 200 or 233 MHz. The PowerPC expansions made it possible for installing AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS. The Amiga 4000 was Commodore’s attempt to restore it’s position on the market. The Commodore Amiga 4000 got used in producing many Hollywood productions and even NASA adapted the A4000 for several space research programs.
