ScummVM is a powerfull interpreter that allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games on the Amiga platform (provided you have their data files). The clever part about this is that ScummVM just replaces the executable shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed. Work on ScummVM started in September 2001 by Ludvig Strigeus. Looking to write his own adventure game, he looked to see how the mechanics of an existing game engine, specifically working to create an emulator to play Monkey Island 2. ScummVM continues to add new games or game engines and ScummVM has been a participant in the Google Summer of Code every year since 2007. The new optimized release of ScummVM (version 2.2.0) for AmigaOS classic offers several improvements and fixes.
